          Comic Superheroes with disabilities

These superheroes challenge stereotypes by showing that disabilities do not limit someone’s capacity to succeed, lead, or inspire. They also provide representation for disabled fans who rarely see themselves in mainstream media.

Marvel Comics
  1. Daredevil (Matt Murdock) Disability: Blind
Matt’s other senses are heightened to superhuman levels, and he uses his abilities as a lawyer and vigilante in Hell’s Kitchen.
  2. Professor X (Charles Xavier) Disability: Paralysis (uses a wheelchair)
Founder of the X-Men, his telepathic abilities and leadership make him one of the most powerful mutants.
  3. Hawkeye (Clint Barton) Disability: Deaf
In some comic arcs, Hawkeye becomes partially or fully deaf but continues to excel as an archer and Avenger.
  4. Echo (Maya Lopez) Disability: Deaf
Echo is a Native American martial artist with photographic reflexes, enabling her to mimic any movement she sees.

DC Comics
  1. Oracle (Barbara Gordon) Disability: Paralysis (uses a wheelchair).
After being paralyzed by the Joker, Batgirl transitions into Oracle, becoming the ultimate tech expert and information broker for heroes.
  2. Doctor Mid-Nite (Pieter Cross) Disability: Blindness.
Uses special goggles to "see" in the dark and continues to work as both a doctor and a crime fighter.
  3. Cyborg (Victor Stone) Disability: Amputee.
After a catastrophic accident, Victor’s body is rebuilt with cybernetic parts, making him stronger and highly intelligent.
  4. Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes) Disability: In some story lines, he has PTSD from his adventures.
His struggles highlight mental health challenges for superheroes.

Other Universes
  1. Hiccup (How to Train Your Dragon) Disability: Amputee.
After losing a leg, Hiccup’s resilience and ingenuity as a dragon rider and leader only grow.
  2. Tyrion Lannister (Game of Thrones) While not a "superhero," Tyrion, born with dwarfism, is a strategist whose intellect is his superpower.
