About Access in St Neots

Who we are

Access in St Neots is a community-led initiative focused on improving accessibility for everyone in our town.

Founded in 2021 by Liz Owen, the group began on Facebook from the perspective of a wheelchair user. It quickly grew into a wider community, bringing together people with a range of disabilities, as well as families with pushchairs and older people with reduced mobility.

Our Aim

We provide support, advocacy, awareness, and meaningful change for disabled and mobility-impaired people in St Neots.

Our work supports both individuals and local businesses, helping create more inclusive environments.

Our Vision

  • Disabled people treated equally in all aspects of life

  • Accessibility built into every business and space

  • A community where people feel confident speaking up

  • A town that is inclusive, welcoming, and accessible

Our Mission

We give a voice to people living with disabilities and those who care for them, helping create real and lasting change.

  • Raise awareness and educate

  • Provide guidance based on lived experience

  • Work with businesses and organisations

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Liz, and I created Access in St Neots in 2021.

Originally from Bedfordshire, I moved to St Neots in 2014 with my husband. I am a full-time wheelchair user living with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS). Having experienced both able-bodied and disabled perspectives, I’m passionate about improving awareness and removing barriers.

I believe no one should have to accept a world with less access or fewer opportunities.
