Lidl Supermarket petition for reinstating smaller baskets

The Problem

Accessibility issues in retail environments can make it difficult for disabled people to shop independently and comfortably.

In some cases, these barriers can limit access to essential services and everyday activities. Lidl have removed the smaller baskets in favour of the larger, deep, wheeled pull along baskets.

What We Are Doing

Access in St Neots launched a petition to raise awareness and push for improvements in accessibility at Lidl stores.

This involved:

  • Engaging with the community

  • Gathering support and signatures

  • Highlighting key accessibility concerns

  • Advocating for change with the organisation

Why It Matters

Accessible retail spaces are essential for independence and inclusion.

This project highlights the importance of listening to community voices and ensuring that accessibility is considered in all public-facing environments.
